"My boys aged 8 and 6  attended a woodland holiday session in the October half term 2015. Both were keen to try something different, and as they enjoy  the great outdoors this was ideal. They loved the day. Both had lots to tell me about the wood carving, mini-beast hunting and other games they had played. I was so pleased that I have booked the  boys on again this year (summer half term 2016), along with their little sister who is now old enough to go too and is keen to join in the fun"

'Ranger Dan is an inspiration to any child who is interested in the great outdoors'
His camp is fully equipped to enable children to learn valuable skills and more importantly have fun safely. My boys thoroughly enjoyed their party in the woods, and I would highly recommend a Ranger Dan party to any parents who want to get their children away from the TV and computer!

"Mud glorious mud! Just wanted to thank you both for making our summer.  James had a fabulous birthday party, it was great to see him and his friends get familiar with the great outdoors and learn that its ok to get dirty.
The group were a bit hesitant at first but Dan and Claire soon had them warmed up. The grown ups had a whale of a time chasing round after them too, fortified by Claire's coffee. It was great to see them take some (calculated) risk, toasting marshmallows was a huge hit and a first for most, as was whittling sticks-I've never seen them so quiet! The time flew by and they all went home with big grins and buckets of new self confidence. We've had so many lovely comments from parents at school, lots of the children talked about their time in the wood for days. James was so enthused he asked to go on one of Ranger Dan's holiday session. He enjoyed den building and sliding down the mud bank, this time he even managed not to lose his wellies to the bog!
Thanks Ranger Dan for giving our children the opportunity to roam free. Keep us posted as to when we can do more.

"If you're looking for something outdoors that you can join in with and enjoy - I would highly recommend Ranger Dan."

'George's 6th birthday
January weekend - very cold yet beautifully sunny

Ranger Dan really is our local Bear Grylls, my son and his friends thoroughly enjoyed their adventure in the woods - climbing, sliding and swinging on the outdoor adventure style rope park, following Dan to the top (of what seemed like the world, to a group of 6 year olds) a hill that overlooked the picturesque landscape, which really did take their breath away.  Layers and layers of unnecessary (to the 6 year old) clothes strewn over the forest floor as they chased each other around the trees attempting to play hide and seek.  Fire building, carving swords and toasting marshmallows after scrumptious pizzas were enjoyed by children and keen parents who managed to learn a few skills themselves.
If you're looking for something outdoors that you can join in with and enjoy - I would highly recommend Ranger Dan.  We are already planning a return visit with his whole class very soon.

"The kids loved it and the parents have been saying how well run it was"
Dear Dan, Claire, Sam and Amy
All the kids loved it and the parents have been saying how well run it was and what a different idea for a birthday party it is. You are really well prepared with the extra clothing etc and the pizzas were scrumptious. Well done to all 4 of you and thank you.
See you next time!

This party is what makes memories for children. I have no idea how I could top this party next year"
Ben had his 5th birthday party today with Ranger Dan and I just want to say a huge thank you to Dan and Claire. We had the best time ever. They were friendly and professional throughout. Ranger Dan struck the right balance of humour and firmness to ensure all the children had an amazing time and stayed safe too. Even the shyest children in the group soon lost their inhibitions and were racing around the woods without a care in the world. This party is what makes memories for children. I have no idea how I could top this party next year. Thank you again.

"It was the least stressful children’s party we have ever organised"
My son had his 6th birthday party with Ranger Dan. The three hours raced by and I’m not sure how they managed to fit so much in: searching for fire wood, hide and seek, sliding through mud, carving pirate swords, making reed boats and lots more.
For my husband and I, it was the least stressful children’s party we have ever organised and we enjoyed watching the kids having fun.
The food was delicious and all in all, we all thought it was brilliant.
All the boys went home extremely muddy, but very happy and Tom can’t wait to do it all again next year!

'Ranger Dan provided a wonderful environment for our boy's fifth birthday.
The children ranged from the ages of 18 months to approximately 12 years of age.  We were keen on three things:
1. having the children learning about their local environment.
2. Experience how to play in their local environment and
3. incorporate children of all ages into the play.
Ranger Dan kindly traveled to our home and toured the area offering numerous suggestions on what he could offer.  We agreed that he would set our back garden up as
a campfire site where they could learn how to build/light a fire, string making, roasting marshmallows and making toffee apples.  The 'campsite' would serve as a base for children or parents who wanted a break from the other activities he arranged which included building a den, bug hunting, games and collected things such as willow to make woodland crafts out of.
While Dan scoped the area he expressed concern over the younger one's ability to join in and for everyone's safety.  I explained to him that (in our case) younger children would have a parent who would enable them to have a go at den building or whittling.  I gave him the example that in our family we allow our children to cut vegetables with a knife from the age of 18 months years old with guided help and then by themselves when they feel confident.  This is always done under our supervision.  Parents who do not wish their little ones to participate can watch their parents and the older children have a go.  Dan was respectful of our desire to make sure that the activities were challenging for the older ones and still engaging for the younger children. Ranger Dan came an hour before the party so that he could set up.  During this time Dan presented our boy with a wooden deer that me made and spent a lot of time with my son allowing him to help set up and showing him how to do other bushcraft activities.  The party lasted four hours and time goes by very very quickly.  My one regret was not having him for longer as we were all sad for it to end.  Nevertheless my son absolutely loved his party and he and his friends continue to talk about it five months after the event.

If you are looking for an alternative party experience and would like to expose children (or yourself as we had a few parents stay just to check it out) to nature and bushcraft activities then I would highly recommend Ranger Dan for the job.

We've been lucky enough to have had Dan come into our school three times now and each time he's been absolutely brilliant. The kids have loved all the activities and the parents always say that their children come home from school buzzing about what they've learned. The highlight for us was probably toasting marshmallows over our very own camp fire.
I couldn't recommend him more for any outdoor learning activity.

I booked Ranger Dan in to visit our class after he had made such a good impression on our Year 6’s a few weeks earlier.

The children in my class spent a wonderful day – bug hunting, performing worm charms, carving willow into wands and swords, and making crowns from the branches of trees.  Ranger Dan had arranged a senses walk for them to do too – where they had to follow a rope, blind folded, using their sense of touch to steer them in the right direction.  Each of the activities was well organised, structured, educational, and most importantly great fun!

Thank you Ranger Dan!

Broken Cross School Field trip to Brereton Heath
We worked with Ranger Dan and co in Brereton Heath Country Park as a whole school trip which was entitled ‘Mission Impossible’ at the start of November 2011;It was a fantastic day. We completed three activities; this is what the children had to say: ‘I really enjoyed making the journey sticks because it was an activity I had never done before’‘I liked it when we made the den and threw leaves over it’‘I liked bushcraft because we had clay face paint on and at the very end we toasted yummy marshmallows!
